Royal Doulton Captain Cook
An impressive black basalt loving cup producing in England by Royal Doulton in 1970 to commemorate the Bicentenary of the landing of Captain Cook in Australia in 1770.
This large twin-handled loving cup is decorated with a raised portrait of Captain Cook underneath gilt CAPTAIN COOK lettering. The remainder of the cup presents a historical relief scene relating to the landing and the voyage of HMS Endeavour, together with further gilt lettering. The cup was produced in an edition limited to 500. This is number 269.
The loving cup measures approximately 7 1/2 inches in diameter plus the handles and stands around 8 1/4 inches tall.
The cup is first quality and is in very good condition.
