Wedgwood Black Basalt
A Wedgwood black basalt framed plaque from the Jubilee Crown Collection designed by Arnold Machin.
The bas-relief is hand-gilded and the lettering around it embossed. The plaque is set on gold velvet within a maple frame. The plaque depicts Queen Elizabeth II on horseback, dressed in uniform of Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards.
Wedgwood produced a collection of reproductions in Black Basalt and Jasper of the Jubilee Crown coin designed by Arnold Machin, OBE. Originally issued in sterling silver by the Royal Mint to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the accession to the throne of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
This basalt plaque is a limited edition of 750 this one being number 88.
The frame measures approximately 10 inches square and the plaque measures approximately 5 1/2 inches in diameter. It is impressed ’Wedgwood Made in England’ on the back.
The framed plaque is in very good condition and comes with the original presentation box and booklet as shown.
