Bicentenary of the Birth of Capt Matthew Flinders Plate

Wedgwood Blue Jasperware

A blue Jasperware plate produced by Wedgwood to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of Captain Matthew Flinders RN.

The plate features a central white bas-relief and white-bas reliefs around the edge along with the words Capt. Matthew Flinders RN and Born March 16 1774.

On the reverse of the plate it reads "To Commemorate the Bicentenary of the birth of MATTHEW FLINDERS who, in the sloop 'Investigator' circumnavigated Australia 1801-1803.

The plate which is first quality measures approximately 8 inches in diameter and is stamped 'Wedgwood Made in England' on the back. The plate is in very good condition and comes with its original paper booklet however this is a little tatty as shown.
